The Delano Miami Beach Hotel returns.
Originally opened in 1947 and long considered one of Miami’s most iconic hospitality destinations, the property has undergone a multi-year transformation leading to its reopening in April 2026. Every detail of the experience has been reconsidered, from architecture to atmosphere, with sound playing a central role across the entire resort.
Sound Investment Audio was brought in to design and integrate a full property-wide audio system spanning restaurants, pool environments, lobby spaces, and arrival areas. The scale of the project required hundreds of loudspeakers and a deeply coordinated approach across dozens of zones, all unified through a robust Dante network built to manage the complexity seamlessly.
Funktion-One systems anchor the majority of the property, including extensive use of their latest weather resistant solutions throughout the outdoor environments. In the lobby and entrance areas, James Loudspeakers paired with Bag End subwoofers provide a more refined, architectural listening experience. Full Fat Audio amplification and NST Audio processing power the system throughout.
The pool environment introduces a live performance element, where DJs and musicians share the same space across indoor and outdoor zones. Supporting this required careful system design as well as coordination with Shure’s engineering team to deploy a wireless microphone and antenna system capable of delivering consistent coverage across the full footprint of the property.
Equally important was integration with the design itself. Speaker placement, custom finish, and visibility were developed in close collaboration with the interior design team to ensure the system complements the architecture rather than competes with it.
This project represents one of the largest implementations of Funktion-One’s weather resistant systems in North America to date, delivering precise, consistent coverage across a property defined by scale, detail, and expectation.
Opened April 2026.
