In 2009, Sound Investment completed a major audio design and integration project for a 19 floor luxury boutique hotel, The Standard Hotel, High Line in New York City’s Meatpacking District. This high-profile venue, known for its stunning architecture and prime location, required a state-of-the-art sound system that could support the diverse events and experiences hosted within its iconic spaces, Le Bain and the Boom Boom Room. Both venues are located atop the hotel and are known for their breathtaking views, luxurious ambiance, and lively nightlife scenes.
The scope of the project included the installation of a Funktion-One sound system, renowned for its clarity, power, and ability to deliver high-quality sound even at elevated volumes. This system was selected for its exceptional performance and ability to meet the demands of the dynamic and upscale environments within Le Bain and the Boom Boom Room. These venues regularly host high-energy events such as brand launches, receptions, and late-night parties, making superior sound quality a crucial component of the overall experience.
A unique challenge of this project was addressing the issue of sound transmission and vibration to the VIP suites located directly below the rooftop venues. To mitigate the risk of disturbing guests in these suites, Sound Investment implemented a noise masking system designed to reduce the transmission of low-frequency vibrations. Additionally, the speakers in both Le Bain and the Boom Boom Room were mounted on springs, a clever design technique that minimized the transfer of energy to the floors below. This ensured that the immersive audio experience within the venues remained uncompromised while maintaining the comfort and privacy of hotel guests.
Le Bain, a rooftop discothèque with an outdoor lounge and a plunge pool, needed a sound system that could adapt to both day and night environments, providing crystal-clear audio for casual afternoon gatherings and high-energy nightlife events. Similarly, the Boom Boom Room, known for its opulent interior and panoramic city views, required a system that complemented its sophisticated ambiance while offering a premium audio experience.
Through careful design and advanced sound engineering techniques, Sound Investment successfully integrated cutting-edge audio technology into these prestigious spaces, helping The Standard, High Line maintain its reputation as one of New York City’s most sought-after destinations for nightlife and special events.
