Gaslamplighter, an upscale karaoke lounge in San Diego’s vibrant Gaslamp Quarter, is the latest project from Frankie Sciuto, who transformed his parents’ iconic Lamplighter bar into a modern, glamorous hotspot. As a returning client after our successful collaboration on SideBar, Frankie entrusted Sound Investment to handle the audio design and integration for his new venture. Our goal was to create an audio system that maintained the charm of the original bar while delivering top-tier sound quality and control, ensuring a high-end experience for every guest.
The audio system we installed was robust and state-of-the-art, tailored to meet the needs of a long, narrow space. We outfitted Gaslamplighter with F1201 mains speakers, F81 satellite speakers, Full Fat Audio amplifiers, NTP DSP processors, and a Shure wireless microphone system. Each speaker had its own dedicated amplifier channel, providing time-aligned audio throughout the venue to guarantee consistent sound quality at every corner. This advanced setup, which also included an Allen & Heath digital mixer with iPad control, allowed for wireless control from the compact DJ booth, ensuring seamless operation while maximizing space efficiency.
One of the unique challenges we faced was designing an audio system that fit into the lounge’s small DJ/operator booth. The mixer we chose not only handled karaoke input but also allowed for additional sources, including broadcast receivers and live music, creating versatility for special events. With wireless control, operators could adjust the system from anywhere in the venue, ensuring smooth transitions and a perfect balance of sound throughout the space.
The result is a karaoke lounge that blends old-school charm with cutting-edge audio technology, offering an unforgettable entertainment experience at Gaslamplighter. Sound Investment’s expertise has once again transformed a venue into a dynamic space where sound elevates the entire atmosphere.
