Inside the reimagined Delano Miami Beach, Mimi Kakushi introduces a world shaped by the glamour, culture, and creative energy of 1920s Osaka. Rich woods, patterned surfaces, warm lighting, and layered architectural details give the restaurant a distinct identity where virtually every visible element feels considered. As the concept prepared to open its first U.S. location, the audio system needed to meet the same standard of performance and design.

Sound Investment Audio integrated a Funktion-One system powered by Full Fat Audio amplification and NST Audio processing. While sound quality was essential, one of the defining challenges was ensuring that the technology did not interrupt the restaurant’s carefully developed aesthetic.

Rather than allowing the loudspeakers to become prominent visual elements, the Funktion-One loudspeakers were custom RAL color matched to coordinate with the interior finishes. This allowed the equipment to recede into the surrounding architecture while still being positioned to deliver the performance required throughout the restaurant. At Mimi Kakushi, the audio system was treated as part of the interior rather than something added after the design was complete.

That attention to appearance reflects a larger consideration in luxury hospitality audio. The technically ideal solution also has to respect the work of architects and interior designers. Speaker placement, finish, and visibility all become part of the integration process, particularly in a space where materials and visual details play such an important role in the guest experience.

Mimi Kakushi also exists within the much larger audio ecosystem Sound Investment designed and integrated for Delano Miami Beach. Across the property, hundreds of loudspeakers support restaurants, pool environments, lobby spaces, and other hospitality areas. Each venue required its own approach while remaining connected to the broader property infrastructure.

For Mimi Kakushi, that approach centered on restraint. The completed system delivers the clarity, presence, and performance expected from Funktion-One while allowing the restaurant’s design to command the attention. Guests experience the sound, but the technology behind it never needs to become part of the view.

Sometimes the most successful integration is the one you barely notice.
