SELC Climate Week
During Climate Week NYC, the Southern Environmental Law Center brought a full day of programming to Iron23 focused on the environmental issues, communities, and stories shaping the U.S. South. SELC Climate Week combined moderated discussions, presentations, live performance, a photography exhibition, and virtual programming within one venue. Sound Investment provided the technical production infrastructure needed to support each format while creating a consistent environment for speakers, attendees, and audiences joining remotely.
The main programming space centered around a large LED wall spanning much of the stage backdrop. Throughout the day, the display shifted between session branding, speaker names and affiliations, presentation content, and photography, giving each discussion a clear visual identity. Audio, video, show lighting, staging, scenic, and power systems worked alongside the LED installation to support multi-person panels and presentations while keeping content visible and intelligible throughout the room.
But the production for SELC Climate Week extended well beyond the main stage. Additional video displays carried programming farther into Iron23, helping attendees remain connected to the content throughout the venue. Lighting was used to define different areas and change the atmosphere as programming transitioned across the day. Behind the scenes, power distribution and technical infrastructure connected the systems required to keep a full schedule moving.
The variety of programming also meant the production needed to adapt. A system configured for moderated discussions and presentation content also supported live musical performance later in the day. At the same time, the hybrid format introduced another audience beyond Iron23, requiring the in-room production to work alongside the event’s virtual programming.
For event planners and agencies, productions with multiple formats require more than individual pieces of AV equipment. Audio, video, lighting, LED, staging, scenic, and power all need to function as one coordinated system while remaining flexible enough to accommodate changes in content and programming.
Working with SELC and venue partner AES NYC, Sound Investment helped deliver that infrastructure for SELC Climate Week. From a sold-out morning session to panels, live performance, and programming throughout the venue, the production supported a full day of activity without losing sight of the content at its center.
For SELC’s first full day of free Climate Week programming, Iron23 needed to function as more than a conference venue. SELC Climate Week demonstrates how thoughtful technical production can support multiple audiences, programming formats, and spaces within a single event while giving the production team the flexibility to move from one moment to the next.
